FAQs
What are custom printed red envelopes?
Custom red envelopes, also known as red packets or hongbao, are festive paper pouches mainly used to hold cash for gifting. We provide fully personalized printing services for
festivals, weddings, corporate events and celebrations. You can customize patterns, words and logos to match holiday themes, brand styles or private ceremonies.
What standard sizes are available?
We offer three mainstream sizes plus fully customizable dimensions:
Mini size (90mm×170mm): For kid’s New Year lucky money, small gifts and event giveaways
Regular size (110mm×190mm): Most popular for weddings, daily festivals and corporate bonuses
Large size (130mm×220mm): Fits thick cash bundles for important gifts and grand occasions
Custom measurements, rounded corners and special die-cut shapes are supported.
What paper materials can I choose?
157gsm–300gsm coated art paper: Smooth surface, vibrant colors, highly compatible with foil stamping
Matte thick cardstock: Low-shine elegant texture for minimalist high-end designs
Textured specialty paper (linen, grain): Tactile surface for premium wedding and business red envelopes
Waterproof coated paper: Anti-moisture and anti-smudge, ideal for damp climates
All paper is opaque enough to block light, so cash inside cannot be seen through the envelope.
Which color modes work for red envelope artwork?
CMYK full-color printing suits colorful illustrations, cartoon patterns and multi-hued festive designs. Pantone (PMS) spot color printing guarantees consistent bright red base color with
no color difference across all batches. Solid black printing is cost-effective for simple text-only designs. Single-sided and double-sided printing are both available. All RGB files need
conversion to CMYK before submission to avoid color distortion.
What bleed and safe zone rules apply to design files?
A minimum 3mm bleed is required on all four edges of designs for trimming. All vital elements including greetings, logos and decorative borders must sit within a 3mm inner safe zone.
Creasing, die-cutting and folding may cause minor position shifts; the safe zone prevents important content from being trimmed or covered by folds.
What file formats are acceptable for printing?
AI and PDF vector files with all fonts embedded are highly recommended. All pictures and graphics must be 300 DPI or higher at actual size. Low-resolution files lead to blurry text and fuzzy patterns.
What custom finishing options can be added?
Hot foil stamping: Gold, silver, rose gold foil for shiny words and decorative outlines
Spot UV coating: Gloss accents on matte paper to highlight key patterns and characters
Embossing/debossing: Raised or indented texture for luxury tactile effects
Matte/gloss lamination: Anti-scratch, anti-stain and wear-resistant
Perforated tear strips, custom flaps, PVC transparent windows and printed inner lining
Sequential numbering for lottery tracking and corporate record management
What occasions are red envelopes commonly used for?
Chinese Lunar New Year lucky money, wedding cash gifts, baby shower and birthday presents, housewarming favors, corporate year-end bonuses, employee holiday benefits, mall lucky draws, client holiday gifts and various celebration activities.
Are custom flap styles available?
Yes. Common options include straight flap, triangular flap, lock seal flap. We can also tailor exclusive flap structures and opening methods according to your needs.
What is the MOQ and production lead time?
Basic red envelopes with plain printing have flexible minimum order quantity for small personal batches and large wholesale orders. Foil stamping, textured paper, variable numbering
and special die-cut designs require a higher MOQ. Large bulk orders get tiered volume discounts. Standard production takes 3–5 business days after digital proof confirmation. Rush
service is available for urgent holiday and wedding orders. Complex customized orders require longer production time.
How are finished red envelopes packed?
Standard bulk shrink wrapping keeps products dustproof and clean. Custom kraft carton packaging is available for big orders to avoid extrusion and creasing during shipping and storage.
